Welch tells Express that she has methods that help her avoid falling into unhealthy eating habits. She says that she thinks a lot before eating something. "I now stop and think before I eat. When Welch wants to workout, she doesn't always go to a gym, or use official equipment. In 2018, Welch posted this video on Twitter of herself doing leg workouts outside with a bike rack. She wrote, "Outdoor gym life!!!"

Welch uses the LighterLife Diet plan when it comes to eating healthy, and is open about how helpful it has been for her. She tells Express, "Being on the LighterLife journey doesn't mean I can't have fish and chips, I can't have a dessert, it doesn't mean I can't have these things."

Welch tells Express that she uses the 5:2 concept when it comes to her diet, and that it works really well for her. "I now follow the 5:2 concept every week with my LighterLife Foodpacks which works really well for me especially when I am busy on the road. Find what works for you and stick to it, it's all about having a long term food balance instead of starving and binging."
